Black Rock Desert

Black Rock Desert
This is where I grew up. I took this photo as a set up shot for this photo with Tasha. This was my first shot to gauge the ambient light and composition. I ended up darkening the ambient to make her stand out. Later on, I found this shot and I like it as a landscape.

This photo is one I find compelling in a positive way, although some people think of deserts as places that are ugly. I always have loved the wide-open spaces though. Being from a mountainous and forested part of the country, it is quite a novelty to be able to actually see a proper flat horizon.

The first time I saw Texas, I said "The sky is bigger here"

What a beautiful shot!
